Occasion design

Wedding jewellery design — designing for the biggest day

Bridal pieces get photographed a thousand times and worn for decades — design for both.

Bridal jewellery is occasion design at maximum stakes — photographed
heavily, worn emotionally, kept for decades.

The material traditions — pearls (the bridal classic — see the
pearl guide),
crystal sparkle, and increasingly clean fine-metal minimalism.

Comfort is a spec, not a hope — weddings run twelve hours; earrings
over 6g are removed by the ceremony, necklaces that twist get taken off.
Weight-test prototypes on real humans for real hours.

Coordinate, do not match — bridal party pieces echo the bride's
palette at lower scale; identical sets read uniform-store. Different
lengths, same stones, works.

Heirloom thinking — choose constructions that survive re-stringing and
re-setting; the piece should be repairable in 2050. Construction standards
are the essentials course's obsession.
