Bracelet types explained — bangles to charm stacks
Bracelets live the hardest life in jewellery — design for the desk, the doorframe and the gym bag.
Bracelets take more knocks than any other jewellery category — design for
a life of doorframes.
The families
- Bangles — rigid circles; fit must pass the hand (sizing is critical).
- Cuffs — open rigid; adjustability built in.
- Chain bracelets — links + clasp; the lobster is your friend.
- Tennis lines — continuous stones; safety catches matter.
- Charm bracelets — narrative pieces; charm collectors never stop.
- Stretch stacks — elastic piles; quality elastic or nothing.
Fit maths — chain sizes run +1.5-2cm over wrist circumference; bangles
must slide over the knuckles (measure there, not the wrist).
Clasp wisdom — magnets need safety chains; lobsters need jumper bars
for size flexibility. Termination technique lives in the
stringing guide.
